Amy's Pastry was originally started in 1954, in East Los Angeles. The store was later relocated to Montebello, California. Many customers will tell you that it's a well-known landmark. The company is one of the few bakeries in Southern California that still makes its products from scratch. All the breads, cakes, desserts, and assorted pastries are completely hand-made. Many people have said that the products created at Amy's Pastry have an Eastern European tradition, with a New York essence.

The business consists of a small, but committed group of employees who diligently work at keeping Amy's Pastry "the best pastry business in Southern California." Bakers at Amy's Pastry start at midnight every night to begin the process of baking the products for the coming morning. At 4. a.m., the products start coming out of the oven to be freshly placed on the shelves awaiting the morning crowd. Pedro Gutierrez is the head baker who has been working at Amy's Pastry for over 27 years. David is the talented decorator and artist of the amazing cakes, desserts, among other fool delicacies. There are many long-term employees at the business who have greatly contributed to the wonders created, such as the famous Amy's Delight, Pecan Pies, and Amy's Health Bread. Amy's Pastry is also committed itself  to helping the community, and is involved in many charities in the area such as churches, schools, and homeless shelters.
